Global online travel company Expedia are taking over the entire Angel Building in North London as their European headquarters. They contracted architects Scott Brownrigg to design the refurbishment within the 6 storey, multi-award winning Islington building.

We worked in Partnership with Scott Brownrigg to design a signage and wayfinding system that will fit within the iconic interior, and complement their exciting new designs for the workplace areas.

Our solution was to echo the strong, vertical lines of the original interior structure of the ground floor entrance lobby and atrium. We adopted a gloss black finish, reflecting the iconic seating sculpture within the entrance lobby, inset with matt black directional panels, angled to emphasise the directional element.
We also designed a dominant but playful 3-dimensional Expedia logo sitting at the front of the mezzanine within the main atrium, overlooking the entrance lobby.

A key element in our signage design is a unique, custom family of wayfinding icons. These are particularly important for Expedia, as an international travel-related business, whose visitors are likely to originate from a myriad of different countries, speaking a range of different languages.
