Although the Chambers of Commerce for Ealing and Hammersmith & Fulham closed over the past few years, the issues and support needs of SMEs in those boroughs have grown more than ever over the same period.
Hounslow Chamber of Commerce took up the responsibility of supporting businesses in those boroughs as well as in Hounslow, and organised events and business support programmes across all three boroughs.
In the Autumn of 2022 the London Chamber of Commerce invited them to make that a permanent arrangement, and West London Chambers of Commerce was launched.
Creating the identity for West London Chambers of Commerce threw up a few unique challenges.
Like how do we represent the merger of three boroughs, and at the same time leverage the reputation and equity that had been built around the Hounslow Chamber brand. And how can we design an identity for an organisation that supports local West london businesses, but which will also connect and resonate with trade partners overseas. And how can we challenge the perception that some people have that the Chamber of Commerce itself is a slightly old fashioned and stuffy institution.
So before we could even start to think about creative routes we conducted a thorough strategic exercise, working with the Chambers team to defining and articulate the positioning and purpose.
Building that solid brand platform really helped us then to move forward and design a visual identity and graphic language which, on the one hand, recognises the stability, confidence and credibility of the Chamber of Commerce, and on the other hand, represents the West London Chambers as a new and dynamic organisation with the energy and confidence to attract a new generation of entrepreneurs and businesses.
“We worked with Simon to establish this new branding in light of the expansion of the Hounslow Chamber to incorporate Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham. Since coming onto the Chambers’ Board of Directors earlier this year, this was one of the first big projects I was involved in. Simon took us through a detailed process to reach something that truly reflects the Chamber’s progression so far and the new direction it takes on supporting more and more businesses in West London.”
